The main show of the launch is the anniversary release- iPhone X.
The iphone X looks and feels different from previous releases. For a start, it has a bezeless screen covering most of the front of phone, booting out "Home" button in the process. The screen itself, called a Super Retina Display, is a 1125x2436 OLED display. Wiith the OLED, display is able to reflect TrueBlack quality and together with Apple's TrueTone technology for managing white-balance, the step delivers more contrast and pleasant colours.
The iPhone X runs Apple's latest processor, the A11 Bionic, along with 3 gigs of RAM. The A11 promises 25% faster speed on 2 of its core and 70% faster on the other 4 vs the 7/7Plus. The upgraded RAM is definitely necessary to power more complex features, data processing and apps.
In the camera department, it is a dual camera set up on the back and able to shoot 4K 2160p video at 60fps or 1080p at impressive 240fps. The main camera boasts new, improved 12MP sensors. The deual camera is a pair of telephoto at aperture (f/2.4) with a regular camera stick to f/1.8. We noted that both the camera has optical image stabilization to shoot excellent photos.
The new Face ID may be the most important new feature of the iPhone X. Essentially a replacement to fingerprint sensor on many devices so far. The system is much more secure than TouchID, with a failure rate of 1,000,000 to 1 (fingerprints are good for 50,000:1).
The FaceID is behind the the new Animoji, which are iMessage emojis that maps your face, so you can put your voice and expressions on the face of a unicorn, dog or cat!
The battery on iphone X reportedly lasts 2 hours more than the iPhone 7 battery and also is wireless charging friendly. Fast charging is supported and you can get from flat to 50% in 30 minutes.
The Apple iPhone X will arrive later than the 8 models - pre-orders start October 27, sales begin November 3. There are two color options: Silver and Space Grey and comes in 64GB or 256GB variants.
iPhone 8 and 8 plus
The Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus basically looks familiar and brings a few upgrade from 7/7 Plus. The front and back are now in glass, which enables adding of wireless charging feature. (the 7/7 Plus has aluminium back) and also fast charging.
The main camera on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is a 12MP with f/1.8 aperture with improved sensor ship. And since the Plus has a dual camera set up, it is paired with telephoto camera of 12MP resolution and f/2.8 aperture. The device is powered by new A11 Bionic chip (from quad-core A10 Fusion to a six-core A11 Bionic) to deliver faster low light focusing, improved sharpness and dynamic range, and lower noise from the camera.
The display department stays with IPS screen on this one (not OLED) but they're getting the same TrueTone tech as the X which should improve display quality. An upgrade in video department allows 8 to shoot 4K video.
The Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus go on pre-order on September 15 and on sale on September 22. The phones come in 64GB or 256GB in shades of Silver, Gold and Space Grey.
