The pioneer of bezeless, Mi Mix has released a second model - Mi Mix 2.
The MIX 2 is a flagship device with high end specs to match its premium design. Definitely Qualcomm's top end Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6GB RAM and comes in 64/128/256GB massive memory, with a special cereamic edition coming in 8GB RAM + 128GB memory. To move it globally, the MIX 2 supports 43 bands so you should be able to use it well in any part of the world.
Both the Mi Mix 2 versions are powered by a 3,400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support (9V/2A) via USB-C. To keep its premium feel factor, Xiaomi has applied an 18K PVD rose gold-coated camera rim, while the special edition gets the same rim treatment on its rear-facing fingerprint reader.
The Mi Mix 2 has shrunk a little to become more handling friendly with a 5.99" displau and a longer 2,160 x 1,080 resolution (that's 18:9 instead of the old 17:9) due to it stretching the limits of bezeless further. Xiaomi says that the bezels are reduced 12% bottom and the front glass is curved on all sides.
The cameras and sound quality of the first Mi Mix were not great so Mi MIx 2 seeks to improve it with Sony IMX386 sensor (with 1.25um pixels) and 4-axis optical stabilisation. This set up enables you to shoot 4K or 1080p video and also 120fps slow motion. The front camera is a simple 5mp one at the bottom right of the display to create the unobstructed full screen on device. (which we will expect to see on Iphone 8)
The Mi Mix 2 will still be available in limited countries though they should reach a few other countries outside China this time. It will not be going to the US it seems.
